Bolero Suburbia: A Large-Scale Movement Event for Our Community

Bolero: Suburbia was a celebration of place, space and movement created by choreographer Larry Keigwin.

Bolero: Suburbia was life in Westchester and Fairfield counties staged to Ravel’s Bolero, performed by an eclectic mix of arts professionals and passionate amateurs of all ages and backgrounds from throughout the region.

Bolero: Suburbia was presented for two nights only at The Performing Arts Center - May 6 and 8, 2010.

Bolero Suburbia was inspired by the 2007 performance Bolero NYC. It was commissioned by The Center’s executive director, Wiley Hausam, then at the Skirball Center for the Arts at NYU, and was extremely successful. At the time of its premiere, The New York Times wrote:

“Speed-dial the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts right away: there is just tonight left to see Larry Keigwin’s “Bolero NYC,” a joyful and breathtakingly clever celebration of the city and its people that is probably the most inexpensive legal fun to be had for miles around.”
