Virtual Field Trip FAQs

What is a Virtual Field Trip?
Virtual Field Trips are a new way to bring performances by diverse, world-class artists into the classroom, packaged with educational materials to support arts learning in the digital realm.

What does my trip include?

  • Easy-to-access performance videos ranging in length from 5 – 50 minutes
  • Educational resource materials for teachers
  • Pre-and post-performance virtual workshops and pre-recorded artist talkbacks.

How can I make a reservation?
To register or request more information, email the Education and Engagement office at PAC.aie@purchase.edu or call our Virtual Field Trip hotline at 914-251-6232.

How much will it cost?
In recognition of the continued academic, social, and emotional challenges of the COVID-19 public health emergency, all Virtual Field Trips for the 2021-2022 school year are available free of charge to educators, students, and academic institutions. The PAC reserves the right to change this policy in the future.

Does making a reservation guarantee access to the performances?
Yes. Once your registration is complete, you will receive an email confirmation of your reservation with information on how you can access your trip.

How long will the materials be available once I register?
Each field trip will be available for a specific period of time, ranging between 14 – 90 days, from the day you register. Confirmation of the length of availability will be provided at the time of registration. Materials are available for you to engage with at any time within the specified range. View as many times as you like and in any manner that best suits your educational needs.

What sorts of technical requirements are there?
You will need a desktop, laptop, or tablet with internet access to view the videos and access the supplementary materials.

Can I share the performances with friends and family?
No, these performances are for school audiences only. Registration will be required before accessing the performance materials. Sharing the access password with non-classroom students or the general public is not permitted.

Does The PAC accommodate students with special needs?
Closed captioning is available on all performance videos for accessibility. If you have specific needs or questions about accessibility, please call the Virtual Field Trip hotline at 914-251-6232.

Are there age restrictions?
Each performance has a recommended grade level. However, the grade level is provided for teacher guidance only and any grade level is welcome to engage with the materials if they wish.

Are study guides provided?
Study guides are made available for teachers whenever possible.

Are teaching artists provided?
The Performing Arts Center’s Education and Engagement office is part of Purchase College’s Arts-in-Education Practicum program for Purchase undergraduates. Under the expert guidance of Professor Janis Astor del Valle and The PAC’s Engagement team, young, pre-professional vocational artists and arts managers can facilitate ‘live’ synchronous, 45-min, arts-based lesson plans, engaging students in experiential activities that explore the content, form, and cultural context of specific Virtual Field Trip performances. To find out more about a virtual ‘teaching artist’ visit, email our office at PAC.aie@purchase.edu or call our Virtual Field Trip hotline at 914-251-6232.
