Composer/pianist Daniel Kelly transforms the stories of everyday people into dramatic and compelling music that has delighted audiences around the country.

During this unique performance, audiences will hear the dreams, hopes, and struggles of local first-generation students in recorded interviews that are seamlessly blended with original compositions performed by Kelly’s ensemble of NYC’s finest jazz musicians.

“The goal of this concert is that by hearing someone’s life story and point of view, we may all be more understanding with one another. These students’ stories have humor and drama and I hope to honor them by composing music that uplifts the audience and fosters a sense of compassion.”

Dreams & New Worlds: Stories from First-Generation Students will be celebrated with a premiere performance for school groups, the Purchase College community, and the public on Monday, May 6 at noon.

Members of the public can RSVP by emailing center@purchase.edu.

School groups can reserve tickets through our Arts-In-Education program.
