The Scarsdale Ballet Studio celebrates 26 years in Westchester with a lavish, classic Nutcracker, produced and directed by Diana White, a former ballerina of the New York City Ballet.
Ms. White, who danced almost every female role in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, from a Snowflake to the Arabian solo, to the Sugar Plum Fairy during her 23 year performing career, brings her own Nutcracker dream to local audiences in a production featuring New York City Ballet Soloist Dancer, Megan LeCrone, more than 90 child and adult performers, elaborate sets, over 400 costumes, and dance numbers created by eight different choreographers.
World-class design professionals are on board for the collaboration, including Alain Vaes, who designed many ballets for NYCB and whose critically acclaimed sets for Kansas City Ballet’s Nutcracker were featured at Kennedy Center, as well as Ozwaldo Muniz, master costume-maker for ballet, Broadway and figure skating stars, and Shawn Kaufman, Emmy-nominated lighting designer.
