Join us for a very special afternoon with The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, which celebrates its final performances this fall.
Under the artistic direction of Suzanne Farrell, George Balanchine’s most celebrated muse, The Suzanne Farrell Ballet reveals unique insights into Balanchine’s works: with Ms. Farrell’s coaching and guidance, the company’s performances reveal the musicality and nuance of Balanchine’s masterful ballets in ways that no other stagings can.
New York Times Chief Dance Critic Alastair Macaulay has praised the company for “tackling arduous roles…with degrees of energy, scale, detailed nuance, and musical sophistication seldom found anywhere.”
The program is a pageant of favorites, all handpicked for their special meaning to Ms. Farrell, including classic works of the canon and iconic works created especially for her by Mr. Balanchine.
Says Ms. Farrell: “The enormous respect and pride I have for my dancers is immeasurable. This final program is a reflection of our last 16 years. It has been an honor to serve the art of ballet and of George Balanchine.”

Company Class led by Suzanne Farrell
Saturday, December 2. Noon – 1:30pm
In The PAC’s Concert Hall
A rare opportunity to observe The Suzanne Farrell Ballet’s morning class, led by Suzanne Farrell herself. Free and open to the public.
This class starts every day of rehearsal and performance; it is considered an essential part of the dancers’ daily routine, where they work on their own bodies and aspects of technique. Much about a company’s style of movement and approach to work is established in company class, which makes class just as vital as rehearsal of the ballets themselves.
Select Purchase Conservatory of Dance students will be invited to participate in this class.
“The point of class,” says Suzanne Farrell, “is to be in control of your body and not at the mercy of it. The combinations are musically challenging and mathematically challenging so that the body is always in a state of learning. The goal is to always be improving, always experimenting.”
