 NYO-USA and NYO2 Musicians Perform “Psycho”

Members of Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) and NYO2 perform music from Bernard Herrmann’s iconic score to Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho” during the national youth ensembles’ 2021 residency at Purchase College in July. Throughout the residency, orchestras that combined musicians from NYO-USA and NYO2 had the chance to read through a wide range of scores to explore repertoire beyond the core program for each ensemble.

VC LIVE presents the Naumburg Foundation’s “50 Years of Chamber Music” Concert

This historic concert celebrates “50 Years of Chamber Music” with the Walter W. Naumburg Foundation and New York City’s Town Hall.  Recorded on October 8, the incredible program includes performances by Naumburg Award-winning ensembles and artists including the American, Brentano, Pacifica, Telegraph, and Emerson String Quartets, Eighth Blackbird, pianist Anton Nel and clarinetist Charlie Neidich.  “It was a groundbreaking idea to promote chamber music in the United States in 1971, and the Naumburg Chamber Music Award quickly became the standard-bearer of excellence in the chamber music world — and we are extremely proud of our winners,” Naumburg Foundation President Nicholas Mann told The Violin Channel.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater presents Testament

Testament was created by Ailey Artistic Director Matthew Rushing, Assistant Rehearsal Director Clifton Brown, and former Company member Yusha-Marie Sorzano. The dance film is a tribute to Alvin Ailey’s Revelations that follows a community of people turning pain into power and lament into hope.

Flushing Town Hall presents November Jazz Jam
Wednesday, November 10, 7pm
Live monthly Jazz Jams return to Flushing Town Hall this month! Louis Armstrong Legacy Monthly Jazz Jams are open to professional jazz musicians, graduate students studying jazz, music educators, and serious hobbyists. House Band and Jam Sessions are led by Carol Sudhalter, with Joe Vincent Tranchina, Scott Neumann, and Eric Lemon. Since March 2020, more than 200 musicians and 7,000 viewers from across the globe have participated in these virtual monthly jams. Now that they are going live again, those unable to attend can still tune in for free on YouTube and via Flushing Town Hall’s Facebook page.  This program is supported in part by a grant from The Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation, Inc.
