The PAC News & Notes

From the outside, it may appear as though our continuing closure to the public means that The PAC is idle, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. What do you need in order to hold socially distanced classes during the pandemic? Space. What do you need in order to hold socially distanced performing arts classes during a pandemic? A lot of space. What does The Performing Arts Center have? A LOT OF PERFORMING ARTS SPACE. So that’s what we’re doing and that’s what we’ll continue to do until those classes can return to their former densities. As observed by Interim Managing Director Tracy Fitzpatrick, ”It’s a privilege to serve our community in this way, providing space for our dancers, musicians, actors, and design tech students to learn and grow safely.”

All that said, we can’t wait to get you back in the theatres! Meanwhile, keep tuning in to our virtual programming and stay tuned for more information as it develops.  

March 5, 2021:  Tracy Fitzpatrick, Director of the Neuberger Museum of Art, has assumed the role of Interim Managing Director of The PAC. With 17 years of experience at Purchase, Fitzpatrick will work directly with PAC Department heads and help the College oversee The PAC until new, permanent leadership is appointed. Fitzpatrick also continues as Director of the Neuberger Museum. Christy Havard, who acted as The PAC’s Interm Managing Director in early 2021, has returned to her role as Director of Production for The PAC. Click here to read Tracy Fitzpatrick’s bio.

For over forty years, THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER, PURCHASE COLLEGE (The PAC), a four-theatre complex located on the campus of Purchase College, has been the major professional, non-profit arts presenter in the Southeastern New York–Southwestern Connecticut region. While the stages at The PAC have been dark since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The PAC continues to operate as a safe learning space for Purchase College students, a resource for educators, and as the main COVID-19 testing center for the Purchase College campus, while continuing to present a broad range of virtual programming for the community that inspires, engages, and sparks critical conversations.
