Experience the power and versatility of the West Point Band as it takes the stage for an evening of masterworks. As the oldest continuously serving military musical organization, the West Point Band brings more than two centuries of tradition to a repertoire closely intertwined with the history and development of the American wind ensemble.

The evening will begin with the West Point Band and culminate in a side-by-side performance of Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite, performed with the Purchase Symphony Orchestra.

The concert is free and open to the public, but reservations are required.

About the ensemble
The West Point Band is the U.S. Army’s oldest band and the oldest continuously operating unit at the United States Military Academy, drawing on over 200 years of history.  The band traces its lineage to the field musicians who carried on the traditions of military drill and ceremony after the Revolutionary War, when General George Washington established a post at West Point in 1778. Since then, the band has evolved into a cultural institution that performs to great acclaim for presidents, dignitaries, kings and queens, and its most treasured audience – the American people.

Presented in collaboration with the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music.
