The Purchase PAC
CMS is bringing Benjamin Beilman, David Finckel, Anne-Marie McDermott, and Wu Han to Purchase to present a concert exploring Schubert in three settings. Fun fact: CMS will present this same program at Lincoln Center on May 17, and that concert is sold out, so The Purchase PAC is the place to be.

PBS Great Performances: Suffs
Premieres May 8
Created by Tony Award winner Shaina Taub, this musical recorded from Broadway tells the story of the American suffragist movement and the remarkable friendships, heartbreak, and action that brought women together—or, in some cases, tore them apart. Suffs got 6 Tony noms and 2 wins (Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score) in 2024.

Ragtime: Tiny Desk Concert
Lincoln Center Theater’s acclaimed Broadway revival of Ragtime received 11 Tony Award Nominations. The musical centers on figures from three communities — Black Americans, immigrants and upper class whites — in New York at the dawn of the 20th century and what the American dream means to them as they intersect and, at times, clash. Company members from the Tony-nominated, Lincoln Center Theater revival recently stopped by the NPR’s Tiny Desk to share a bit of that American dream.

PBS Great Performances at the Met: The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay
In this new adaptation of Michael Chabon’s Pulitzer Prize–winning novel set shortly before the outbreak of World War II, two Jewish cousins invent an anti-fascist superhero and launch their own comic-book series, hoping to recruit America into the fight against Nazism.  Incorporating electronic design elements and a variety of musical styles, composer Mason Bates’ score moves among the three worlds of Gene Scheer’s libretto: Nazi-occupied Prague, the bustling streets of New York City, and the realm of comic-book fantasy. Bartlett Sher’s production features towering sets and proscenium-filling projections designed by Jenny Melville and Mark Grimmer of 59 Studio. Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts.
