A Tribute to Eddie Palmieri featuring the Purchase Latin Jazz Orchestra

Join us for a very special evening as our creative musical community honors “El Maestro” – NEA Jazz Master and ten-time Grammy Award winner Eddie Palmieri.

A dazzling pianist whose technique incorporates bits and pieces from everyone from McCoy Tyner to Herbie Hancock and recycles them through a dynamic Latin groove, Palmieri has been a Latin jazz and salsa institution for the past 60 years.

Renowned Latin Jazz artists and members of Palmiere’s band will take the stage to celebrate “El Maestro” and pass the torch forward to talented emerging artists including the Purchase Latin Jazz Orchestra – an ensemble made up of top students from the Purchase College Conservatory of Music – and the winners of the inaugural Purchase College Latin Jazz Festival. Palmieri himself will be in attendance, participating as a judge for the Purchase College Latin Jazz Festival during the day, and saying a few words during the evening concert.

Presented in collaboration with the Purchase College Conservatory of Music, as part of the Purchase College Latin Jazz Festival.

This engagement is supported by The Audience Building Project, a program of the Lake Placid Center for the Arts and the New York State Council on the Arts with support from the Governor and New York State Legislature.
