A visionary staging of the ancient story of Dido, Queen of Carthage, and Aeneas, a Trojan prince. Based on Virgil’s Aeneid, this monumental opera is one of Purcell’s foremost theatrical works, recounting struggles for love in the face of war, sorcery, and betrayal.
